Registration
To register for a Walk in your area, visit the Walk
Location page and register online or contact your local Walk
Coordinator to register by mail. There is a $15 registration fee
that entitles each registrant to a Walk for Farm Animals
t-shirt. If you are
registering by mail, please turn in your registration fee to your
local coordinator no later than three weeks prior to the Walk.
A printable registration form is available on the Walk
Location page for your town. You must pre-register in order
to guarantee that you receive a t-shirt. T-shirts will be distributed
to registered walkers the day of the Walk. Pre-registration
for the Walk is strongly encouraged. If you register the day of
the Walk, the fee is $20 and regrettably we cannot guarantee
that you will receive a t-shirt.
Donations
After you register as a walker, you can begin collecting donations, either online, through www.firstgiving.com/farmsanctuary, or in person, using our Offline Donation Form.
Friends, relatives, fellow students, and coworkers are the most likely candidates to donate. Neighbors, particularly ones with animals, are often good sources too. Most people are accustomed to contributing to worthy causes, and they will be pleased that they are being given an opportunity to help end animal suffering!
You should include the names and addresses of all donors on the form. Be sure to write clearly. In person donations must be collected before the Walk and turned in to the Walk coordinator the day of the Walk. There is no minimum or maximum donation. We suggest asking for a minimum of $20 - which entitles the donor to a one-year Farm Sanctuary membership and a subscription to "Sanctuary," Farm Sanctuary's compassionate quarterly newsletter.
There are three levels of prizes you are eligible for once you've reached certain fundraising levels: $100, $250 and $500. Ask your local Walk coordinator about what these prizes are.
Remember, don't be shy. Every donation you receive will help save the lives of abused and neglected farm animals, and that's something to be proud of!
Walk Time
The Walks usually take about two hours to complete. Everyone
is encouraged to take as much (or as little!) time as they need
to make the Walk an enjoyable experience. Contact your local coordinator
to find out the specific details about the Walk in your area.
Clothing
Plan on picking up your t-shirt at the Walk and wearing it
to show your support! Wear comfortable walking shoes.
It is generally best to wear layers of clothing.A knapsack, hat and sunglasses are also handy items to bring on your walk.
Rain or Shine!
The traditional Walk rule is rain or shine the Walk
will only be rescheduled in the event of severe weather (tornadoes,
heavy rainstorms, hurricanes). If in doubt, please contact your Walk
coordinator to confirm any changes. |
